  • Arlene Angeline Chandra

    FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Arlene Angeline Chandra is a first generation American and college student. Her commitment to helping others shines through her extensive educational background and professional qualifications. Her dedication to supporting children, youth, adolescents, and families on their paths to healing and restoration is evident in her academic achievements and certifications. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Gonzaga University in 2014, a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2016, a national certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist certification since 2016, a Mental Health Professional distinction since 2018, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker licensure since 2020, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Certification since 2020, Ms. Arlene brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice and her non-profit, Arlene’s Angels: Hand in Paw Healing 501(c)(3), founded in 2021. Her recent completion of a Master of Science degree in Nonprofit Management from Columbia University in 2022, further enhances her ability to provide effective and compassionate care to those in need. Within the next few months, she will have gained the distinction of a Certified Professional Practitioner of Animal Assisted Play Therapy®. Taken together, Ms. Arlene's diverse skill set and dedication make her a valuable resource for individuals seeking support and guidance on their journey to healing.

  • David James Patterson

    VICE PRESIDENT

    David J. Patterson is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University, where he works in the Department of History and the Davis Center for Historical Studies. In 2022, he received his PhD in History from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research focuses on societal and cultural adaptations to climate variability in the pre-modern world, and he is currently writing a book about weather and climate in the early Middle Ages. As an environmental historian, he is enthusiastic about issues of sustainability, climate resiliency, and environmental justice. A lifelong animal lover, David is also a passionate supporter of animal-assisted therapy and the mission of Arlene’s Angels: Hand in Paw Healing.
